In this pub we bring a little piece of Ireland to San Rafael, California. We take inspiration from the clients childhood, his birthplace and the memories of his childhood in Ireland. Through this concept we explore both The Burren, we take inspiration from the clients colorful hometown and create a space in which people will want to spend time in.
This Irish Pub is an example of a truely authentic Irish Pub on the West Coast of the United States.
A Real Irish Pub in California
Our client Alan Hynes recently spoke to the Smithsonian Magazine about his decision to open an Irish Pub: Alan Hynes grew up in Kinvara, a small Irish village in County Galway. It had one shop, a post office, a church and two pubs. When he’d go to the auction house with his father on the weekend, they’d stop into a few pubs on the 12-mile trip home. He moved to California’s Marin County in 1998 and today owns a concrete and excavation business. Seven of his nine brothers and sisters are also in the Golden State, but he says he has always felt something missing—that community cornerstone. So, at 51, he decided to open a pub.
When Hynes talks of the pub “coming together,” he means the assembly of the component pieces—the mahogany bar and millwork for the backbar counters and shelving, leather stools and chairs, decorative floor tiling, mirrors and glasswork and knickknacks. Each element was designed and produced in Ireland, then sent over in a shipping container. The Liscannor stone in the entryway was sourced in the Burren region, the bar’s namesake. Noticeably absent are shamrock garlands, green tinsel and leprechaun-themed anything. – The Smithsonian Magazine

STEP 1: Concept Design with layout plans, perspective sketch, mood images and budget for manufacture and supply by our team.
STEP 2: Detailed Design for our manufacture team is done alongside manufacture and sourcing of materials.
STEP 3: We pack all items into a shipping container and ship it to site where we travel to meet the container and install the pub!
