The guest of honour was the Minister of Public Service, Hon Alain Wong, who performed the official opening of ‘The Irish’ in Trianon Shopping Park last night.
“An Irish Pub in Mauritius contributes to enrich the tourist offer and gives the image of a country willing to accept a concept based on a different culture, ” said the Honorable Alain Wong , Minister of Public Service, who officially launched ‘The Irish’ in Trianon shopping Centre.
Javed Vayid the manager behind ‘The Irish’ speaking at the opening said that he “hoped that the launch of The Irish would be remembered as one of the outstanding projects that has been undertaken in Ireland and finalized in Mauritius. This is a project undertaken initially in Ireland and finalized in Mauritius. It was delivered on time and within budget and in the rules of art!” “confided Javed Vayid to his audience of many business men and women from various sectors of the economy.
The young entrepreneur and major figure in the Mauritian entertainment sector congratulated the team at The Irish Company who completed the entire fit-out and installation at the Trianon Shopping Centre within two weeks!
For Minister Wong, opening a facility like ‘The Irish’ is of great sociological importance and is of extreme economic importance. He thus recalled the distinction that once existed between foreign tourists and local customers and how economic difficulties have forced hoteliers to rethink their practices to be more open to local customers.
Recalling the journey of the young entrepreneur, Javed Vayid at Les Enfants Terribles, the Minister felt that with The Irish, Javed raised the bar higher this time, offering a place for the local customer “You obtain this local customers other than ready-to-eat and something else ready-to-dance.”
